Our main tools include SmartEssay.AI and Smart-Reader.ai. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website (tilt.university), our AI tools, or related services.

Student Work & Inputs: Essays, outlines, reading notes, answers to driving questions, vocabulary notes, graphic organizer content, and any text you enter into our AI tools (SmartEssay.AI, Smart-Reader.ai, etc.).
Usage & Progress Data: How you use the tools, time spent, features accessed, and learning progress.
Payment Information: Billing details when you purchase subscriptions or access to premium features. We do not store full payment card numbers.

Important: Student inputs (essays, notes, etc.) are processed by our AI to provide educational scaffolding. We do not use student work to train general AI models without explicit consent. Your writing belongs to you.

We do not sell your personal information or student work.

Service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, AI processing, analytics, payments)
School or district accounts (if your school purchases bulk licensing — we offer FERPA-compliant options)

We may share aggregated, anonymized data for research or improvement purposes. This data cannot identify individual students.
4. Student Data & Academic Integrity
We designed our tools to strengthen student thinking, not replace it.
You retain full ownership of any writing, notes, or work you create using our tools.
We strongly encourage students to rewrite AI suggestions in their own voice, verify all sources, and follow their school’s academic integrity policies.
Submitting AI-generated content as your own without substantial original work may violate your school’s rules.
We may monitor usage patterns to detect potential misuse and protect the educational purpose of the platform.

We use cookies for essential site functionality, analytics, and to improve your experience. You can manage your cookie preferences using the banner that appears when you first visit our site.

8. Children’s Privacy
Our tools are designed for students in middle school, high school, and college. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consnt. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our tools and practices evolve. We will notify users of material changes through the website or by email.
